Welcome to the award-winning Guardhouse Café.
We offer superb, locally-sourced food and drink in one of the South Coast’s most stunning locations, Berry Head Nature Reserve, with panoramic views over the South Devon Coastline.
Only a short walk from the car park, our café is normally open daily from 9am to 4pm for coffee, tea, drinks, breakfast, snacks and lunch and is fully licensed.

We combine traditional café favourites for adults and kids with seasonal, local and adventurous specials.
We are used to dealing with all kinds of dietary needs. From coeliac to vegan diets please just ask us when we are taking your order – options should be available for everyone
SUSTAINABILITY
Our little cafe sits in a national nature reserve, surrounded by sea on three sides, with rare wildlife on view every single day.
We have a duty to the Guardians of Berry Head and take many steps to play our part.
EVENTS
From time to time we love to host evening events at the Guardhouse. From quiz nights to themed restaurant evenings, and occasionally live music.
The Guardhouse Cafe is also available for private hire. The intimacy of the venue, combined with the beautiful surroundings offer a wonderful setting for any event.
Out and About
Berry Head is a National Nature Reserve. This stunning headland, with its iconic lighthouse and Napoleonic Fort, is surrounded by water on three sides and offers exceptional views across Torbay and beyond. It is Torbay’s most designated heritage site being a Special Area of Conservation, National Nature Reserve, Site of Special Scientific Interest and Scheduled Ancient Monument to name only four!

On Thursday we are hosting a celebration of life for one of our most regular customers who sadly passed away recently.
We will be closing at 12:30pm and serving breakfast until 12.
